Comments
Comments: Well we went out to see how Owl's head was. Lincoln woods was a sheet of ice practically and for most of it. Nice pack on black pond. The bushwhack was easy enough to follow and only some post holing from falling off the hard pack. Lincoln brook was a highway and we cruised on that. Once we got to the brutus bushwhack it was a little different. Should have thrown the snowshoes on but we did it all in spikes. The steepness was fun with the take one step forward and two back but it was a nice cool/warmer day. We passed two guys once we got to the trail again who had done the slide. (whoa). Then we headed up and once on the ridge was the snow a mess. Snowshoe post holes and shoe post holes as well. We saw the two guys prints stopped at the first bump so we continued on knowing the summit was still further. We made it there and then headed back out. The warmer weather turned the brutus into a mess. The hard pack wasn't even stable anymore. There was some monorail in some areas as well with the melt. Once back down to the Lincoln brook trail it was great. The black pond whack got some sun too but it was nothing like that ridge and the brutus on the way down. Welcome to spring.
