 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We were the second car there this morning and there were a total of five. There was room for more, but be careful since it’s mud season and you wouldn’t want to get stuck... |

There really needs to be an option under surface conditions for “mashed potatoesâ€. The trail starts out alternating between stable monorail, unstable monorail, dry (yes, bone dry), and wet/muddy. That eventually morphed into frozen granular mixed in with wet and sticky stuff. As we got higher and the day got warmer it rapidly turned into mashed potatoes mixed with bare rock. Plenty of postholes further up but there was so much bare rock mixed in that we didn’t switch to snowshoes. Honestly you could probably bareboot it but the micros were really helpful on the monorail down low which was largely rapidly melting ice. |
