Comments
Comments: All types of trail surface conditions today. Snowshoes would not be warranted up to South Moat Mountain today. I ended up carrying my snowshoes. There were many bare stretches with intermittent hard packed frozen snow at lower elevations. Bare ledges and rocks at higher elevations. Water running over the ledges and beneath the thin snow pack. The deepest snow pack may have been 1.5 feet just below the summit. Mud spots especially at the summit. Plenty of dry ledge at the summit to sit and look out to the views. Light traction is helpful on the frozen surfaces.
