Comments
Comments: Great hike today. All trails were well packed and our snowshoes stayed on our packs, as they were not necessary today. Spikes worked great and allowed us to tiptoe around postholes. Carter-Moriah up to Mt. Hight was a bit tough, partially due to butt sliders. The hard packed snow got just a bit soft on the surface of the 19 Mile Brook Trail in the afternoon, but still held very well. We did not posthole or chew up the trails. Views were spectacular from Mt. Hight and a few places near the Carter Dome summit. My guess is that snowshoes will be needed in the future, as the trails get softer due to the warm temps.
