Beautiful day for 20th Anniversary of the Inferno Race. Everyone did their part to socially distance. Trail to Hermit Lake Hut was solidly packed with varying layers of slushy snow. From the hut to the bowl was different story. Snow has turned into this dry slippery sluff. It was an interesting uphill and a precarious down hill. I think about everyone took at least 1 sliding fall. Between the 3 in my group we fell 9 times. Worst of it is in the Little Head Wall vicinity. We were wearing spikes & I don’t think the folks in snowshoes or crampons had better grip. |
