Absolutely fabulous day to be on the higher peaks. And a great day to complete my W48 on Washington. Many people out including several skiers up on Washington. Many thanks to Barb & Rich for joining me. Trails in great shape, Spikes to the waterfall on Ammo, switched to snowshoes for use to televators on the climb to the hut. Switched back to spikes for remainder of hike up to Monroe and Wash summits. All cairns clearly visible on trails above treeline make travel on the path easy. Most of trail above treeline was packed granular snow-ice, ice flows were avoidable. Exposed rocks also avoidable. Some sticking of snow to spikes on the lower decent down Cog. |
