| Comments: |
Long trek with Whitney and baby Lydia. Any progress made on the route over the weekend was washed away for the most part. Roadwalk was hard packed and or ski trails to follow. Spikes worked fine here. First part of trail was hard packed. Drifting started shortly before the hut around Zealand Pond. We postholed our way to hut and switch to snowshoes.
Drifting continued all the way to Guyot, varying from 6†on visible trail to 2 ft or more in many spots. Once above tree line, it was bare rock and hard packed. Upon reaching West Bond Spur we were delighted to see 4 or 5 backpacks and a well laid snowshoe track leading to W.B. We met up with the group half way there and they let us know that we could enjoy the fruits of their labor the rest of the way. Once on Bond, we switched back to spikes and had no issues the rest of the way. |
