Little Kearsarge
Winslow - Barton loop
Frozen slush "monorail" with 8-12 inch postholes throughout, made by some poor soul during warm spell last week. The Winslow trail had a 100 yard steep section of ice flow that would have required crampons/ice axe, but we made do with some wide bushwhacking and hold-your-breath traverses. Beautiful and virtually windless at the top. Hike was fun, but not the best conditions; glad we could descend on the Barlow trail. |
