Comments
Comments: We wore snowshoes car-to-car. They provided adequate traction but, more important, televators on the cement-like surface up to the turn off of the ski glades and were ideal for the often drifted route above. Descending, we could have used more traction in places and full crampons wouldn't have been overkill. There are some colossal postholes along the sides of the trail throughout, some deviously cloaked with loose powder. Kinsman Ridge south from the summit appeared to have blown in tracks.
Lovely quick hike with Chris, violating the drive:hike rule despite a long, pleasant break in the sun along the rim trail.
