Snowy and windy yesterday! I thought we might be able to barefoot up Zealand Road but we ended up needing our snowshoes starting around half a mile before the Hale Brook trailhead.
Kept the snowshoes on the entire rest of the day and I don’t think the hike would have been enjoyable in just spikes. Hale Brook was easy to follow. Some gusts covered up our tracks on the way back but everything is straightforward and blazed enough to follow regardless. On the section above the ravine before the switchbacks it’s a bit tricky with opportunities to slip and/or posthole without the right equipment so be careful there. |
