Comments
Comments: Champney Falls Trail is hard packed all the way to the summit of Chocorua, and microspikes were sufficient. The section near Champney Falls requires some care, but it was very manageable. The summit of Chocorua had a stiff wind, but the temps were moderate.

We then headed over to Middle Sister and went through some drifts, and a good amount of existing postholes. This stretch was lightly traveled. The Middle Sister Cutoff was probably the most challenging 0.3 miles of the day with a bit of a postholed mess in stretches. It was just slow, careful going for that bit.

Overall though, hard packed, quick day on the trails. If/when you do step off trail to let someone pass, the crust will beat up your legs when you break through.
