| Dog-Related Notes: |
My two dogs had a good time, although one dislikes the slabs at the top of Chocorua, so we stay below the summit.
We were not prepared for the snowmobiles (now?) allowed on the Liberty Trail. Seven showed up at Liberty Cabin as we were about to descend, and the dogs were overwhelmed. Keep a leash handy if you hear the telltale rumble coming. |

| Comments: |
Lower part of the Hammond trail (on way up Bald peak) is really chewed up with post-holing -- probably from the last warm days. Beware if the temperature is above 45, since the snow softens considerably. From the top of Bald peak to Chocorua it's in better shape, but still lots of post-holes.
Microspikes were enough (and necessary: a lot of icy spots), but I brought snowshoes in case. |
