You normally park at the gate but it was very narrow. Found Lou, the caretaker, and he had me park in the maintenance area. |

3 water crossing, one frozen the other two open, but all are only 3 - 4 wide and shallow. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
3 blowdowns, at .52 mile, .58 mile and .65 mile from the trailhead. 2 stepover, 1 duck under. |

Todays snow conditions would be too soft for dogs, also the upper cliff dogs would need help. |

Snow conditions were murder today. This trail doesn't get a of use in Winter, so it was not well packed.
Snow was so soft every step forward you would slide back. Too loose to bite into on steep sections with
snowshoes and too soft/deep for just microspikes.
May be good come the weekend once we get cold weather.
If you're going to hike Piermont I recommend you call Jed(646-265-0068) the day before, they like to know
who is going onto Camp Walt Whitman property. |
