Comments
Comments: Beautiful day on the Tremont Trail. Did not see a single soul. Hit the trail at 10:45 am. Trail was packed snow, semi-soft down low but snowshoes not needed. Second half of trail was solidly packed still since most of the trail is in the shade as you follow the seemingly unending switchbacks to the summit. Put on micro spikes just before starting the steep section about half way through. Reached the top at 12:15pm. Snow through middle section had softened quite a bit on my return trip, but was not overly problematic. Postholed a handful of times and spikes gummed up once or twice in the middle section, but otherwise smooth sailing back to the car. Wish I hadn’t lugged the snowshoes with me. Best advice for footwear - if you post hole in the first 1/4 mile, then bring them, otherwise you’ll probably be fine.
