Comments
Comments: Perfect snowshoe conditions, I mostly stayed right on top of the crusty snow and other times sunk maybe only a few inches. Easily three feet of snow up high. This felt so easy. I left the trail just before crossing Jordon Brook and stayed well north of the drainage aiming for the north side of the col between Big Bickford and Scarface. I stayed in open woods all the way, so nice to follow the easy way and not be a slave to a straight line. Sad to see lots of coyote tracks. Only moose sign I saw was when I crossed just one set of old tracks in the snow. 6 years ago there was a great deal of moose sign here. It was snowing lightly when I reached the recognized highpoint. Since the snowshoeing was so wonderful I decided to follow my tracks back down to the col and then follow the ridge to Scarface and then over to Bickford Mountain and it was steep but fun to work my way back down to the Trail. (note to future self then in the afternoon you went over and skinned up Mt. Rosebrook).
