Comments
Comments: Perfectly clear day with minimal wind (0-10mph). Ascended Jewell trail from Ammo trailhead parking lot. Trail was packed down nicely from the weekend traffic. I actually switched from snowshoes to micro spikes. Above tree line the trail was hard crust and I could walk on top without post holing. Did an out and back on Gulfside to Jefferson—had the peak to myself. Saw a few hikers heading up Jefferson on my way back—shoutout to Bob H! Since weather, time, and energy level were good, I decided to ascend Washington via Gulfside. Saw quite a few hikers on the summit even though I didn’t stay long. Descended Jewell trail and it was even more packed down than it was in the morning. Great day to be out on the presidentials! Wish I had a shuttle for a traverse—would’ve been the perfect day for it.
