Comments
Comments: My nephew companion completed his first NH 4K winter peak today - yea! Congrats!

We opted to don microspikes all the way to Pierce's summit. The trail was well-consolidated, packed granular snow. Very little ice, even on the summit.

For those continuing to Mizpah Spring Hut via the Webster-Jackson trail, I offer this assessment, based upon a short walk onto part of this trail. Wear snowshoes. It's narrow, not consolidated and full of voids to step into.

For the next few days, with warming temperatures, it might be a good idea to even wear snowshoes up Crawford Path, as the snow base is likely be softened and postholing will at play. You need your ankles to hike, save them from postholes!

We were very lucky to have beautiful, sunny skies and low wind conditions as we reached the summit. Earlier, the skies were largely cloudy and tending to partly cloudy. But the high pressure system that entered Northern NH, entered at the right moment. Later, as we were returning to RT302, we noticed that the winds had picked up by 2:30pm or so.
