| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We got a relatively late start and the USFS lot was only partially full; and surprisingly (to me) there were double digit unfilled spots even on our return. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Water Crossing Notes: |

|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Usual pockets of mud in the lowest stretches. Saw a group get off trail in the upper sections following the small drainages where the blazes are hard to find and the consequences are few. I think that's the same area the winter routes often get off trail. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
The mighty tough little dog really likes this trail. Lots of sippin and dippin all they way until fairly close to the hut, and the gem pool is a gem for it. The steep sections and ledges aren't a bad pawpath in summer. The bright sun on a small black dog above treeline generated a lot of heat, but it's not a long stretch to Monroe and back, and the wind kept him from overheating. Only hazard to watch is picking up mud at the end and bringing it into the car. Welcome to cute puppy Riley joining Bella on the trail for a walk. We saw 3 other big dogs. |

| Comments: |
I thought it might be nice to do Washington after Mansfield yesterday, but Pepper enjoyed sippin and dippin on Ammo so much, and the sun was so strong, I decided he'd rather go back the way we came for more dunks. He loved it. There were lots of people of apparently a wide range of hiking abilities on Ammo today, but they all seemed to be enjoying the great day, pretty streams and great views. |
