| Comments: |
Trail was full of debris, lots of branches from recent high winds. I removed as many as possible, but with the high winds predicted for this week, it may not make a dent.
Views were excellent; by the time we got to the summit, clouds had cleared, to a bluebird sky. Views of the presidentials, and more. First 2.5 miles were hard packed trail. Wore spikes to the intersection w/ Mt. Parker Trail (2.5mi). After this point the snow was drifted, very loose, unpacked. We switched to snowshoes. One couple in front of us used snowshoes to begin packing the trail, and were able to continue packing a nice base. However, another couple in spikes coming up as we descended made a mess of the nicely packed trail, it was all chewed up after passing them, lots of post holes loose snow that kept clumping to shoes. Wear snow shoes to re-pack the trail. Kept snowshoes on back to the car. |
