A fine day in the forest for a speed round of Galehead.I somehow orphaned this for March so today was perfect. The trail is spikeable end to end as it is completely rock solid. This will very likely change in the next few days with soaring temps so BRING YOUR SNOWSHOES. I did wear them for the last 1/2 mile to GRT/GRT junction, and to Galehead. No evidence of anyone going to Hawthorne Falls this winter, though as noted in a prior TR, there is a bushwhack off of galehead summit back down to GRT/GRT. I was tempted to take it but i was solo :) Was going to go for the Twins as well, but as the venerable and wise Old Man and The Saw once told me "no free peaks!" |
