 | Comments: |
Trails were hard packed with lots of smaller postholes that were frozen solid. Lots of ice on the Lakeview Trail making for tough going without traction. You could see where the barebooters had gone off trail to avoid the ice. The more popular chosen route right now is bypassing all of the switchbacks on the Lakeview Trail. The Quarry Trail was less icy bit still had a couple spots that could be trouble without traction. Nice clear views from the summit today with a great view to the Whites and Mt Washington. Notice a new sign up at the top for the Carye Trail. I have hiked this trail a couple times in the past but before it was signed and blazed. Several people in the lot getting ready to head up when I returned, some with traction, some without. Microspikes are a definite need right now on this hike. |
