Comments
Comments: Temp at start was around 5 degrees, high of about 15 for day. Wind was present but not felt often. Saw around 15 people on the trail wearing all forms of traction. Spikes to Brutus worked well for us but changed out to snowshoes after first tricky scramble on Brutus. Once switched to shoes the trek up to the summit was very easy and shaved time off hike versus staying with spike. Did see a number of people with just spikes for Brutus and some with non aggressive crampons but many people had changed to snowshoes. Way down on Brutus had a couple of unexpected butt slide rides due to not paying attention to my footing which shaved off time as well. Trail broken out nicely all the way to the summit, as temps rise this week the snow will not be as firm. Overall a great hike and glad to get #25 done especially in winter when you don't have to worry about the water crossing!!
