A pretty rugged hike for a short one. We used all our footgear and clothing. Just enough new snow on the packed trail to get slippage with spikes. Crampons better when steep. Switched at base of steep climb at col above Lonesome Lake. Coming down KRT to tramway lot narrow trail made by booters and butt sliders made snowshoeing tricky, but possible. Again, crampons better. Blue sky, great snow formations on the trees. |
