 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking lot on Wood Road is small and holds only 5 cars. I was able to snag the last spot at noon. Bickford and Wood Roads are both a bit messy and the parking lot is more packed down than plowed. Fair warning, it is very possible to get stuck in the lot due to soft snow conditions. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Spring Snow |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
There were a few water crossings between Mack and Anna, but they were easy to navigate |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is one tree down across the trail that was a bit tricky for a short person to navigate. Crawl under in the snow or throw oneself over? I went over. |

The snow is very soft due to the warm weather. Snowshoes are necessary, unfortunately most weren't wearing them. There were some seriously deep post holes in the trail. Crossing paths with other hikers was also difficult due to narrow trails and very deep snow. The snow is very deep - like up to your thigh deep. The path is pretty well packed down, but again: soft. Weather was wonderful and the trails weren't particularly crowded, although there was a nice mix of folks doing different activities including biking and skiing! Views along the hike were incredible.
Unfortunately, my day ended with my car getting stuck in the parking lot, but amazingly there is good cell service throughout the area and I was able to call a tow truck. :-) |
