The weather was perfect. Lots of sun, temps in the 20's and light winds at the summit. Somewhere around the Valley Way Tent Site, the trail narrows a bit, the snow gets a little deeper and less packed down (softer) and you are walking a bench (a section of tread cut across the side, or contour, of a hill). We did the entire hike with MicroSpikes but saw others wearing crampons and snowshoes. Round trip was just under 7 hours, we took our time and it was also our first hike with 25lb packs so we were pretty tired by the time we got back to the car. The views from the summit were absolutely amazing. |
