I did an out and back from the Crawford Connector Lot to the summit of Eisenhower. It was a stunningly beautiful but cold and windy day on Pierce and Eisenhower - views were absolutely amazing. Lots of people on the trail up to Pierce and only a few followed me out to Eisenhower.
The trail from the parking lot all the way to the summit of Pierce is stable and easy going with only one tree blow down - all it requires at the moment is micro spikes but if you step off trail, you're going to sink down quite a bit.
The trail from Pierce over to Eisenhower was windswept and hard to find at times due to snow drifts. I wore snowshoes and packed out the trail the best I could, there were a few others with snowshoes behind me doing the same so the trail should be in OK shape at this point.
A pair of hikers arrived at the Eisenhower summit shortly after I did - they came up Edmands Path in just micro spikes and reported the trail had not been broken out prior to them - I imagine that trail is in pretty rough shape at the moment. |
