Comments
Comments: Great day for a hike! A bit of a comedy of errors for me today personally, but it was warm, sunny and perfect winter hiking conditions. Microspikes from parking lot to Hi-Cannon, then most of Hi-Cannon in strap-ons. Easier than microspikes IMHO as the snow was just a little too deep and the crampons were energy saving. Be prepared for A LOT of ducking and dodging as many of the trees are loaded and the trail is high. It makes for some slow going, especially as you get to the ridge and head towards the tower. Coming down from the summit via Lonesome Lake was mostly shallow powder. I started in spikes but quickly switched to snowshoes until the lake. After that, clear and easy in spikes. Just a gorgeous day in the hills.
