Absolutely beautiful day for a nice hike. Windy with some snow flurries and ample sunshine. Trail initially has been packed down from snowshoes, but had a unpacked layer of 1-2" throughout. Some soft areas existed with an occasional posthole. I used microspikes which were fine, but snowshoes are warranted as conditions continue to soften with stronger sun and warmer temps lately. The spur to the SE view was not packed down. Definitely softer and broke through more on the descent. No one else out, signed the trail register at the summit. |
