Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of room at trailhead. We saw a coyote down the road just as we exited the woods, good thing Hannah didn't see it first!

Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: About half a dozen step-overs and walk-arounds, large one has an established herd path. Could use some new drainage ditches in places. Otherwise great footing most of the way and easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a good day, though it was warm - not much water above the first mile so make sure you carry some extra.
Bugs
Bugs: Horseflies and gnats got pretty bad when we stopped and there was no breeze.

Comments
Comments: Got a very late start, but having heard such great things about the Benton Trail, this hike was a good pick for today. Lovely walk through the woods, though very warm and sticky on the way up. Not too many other people on the trail but saw several on the summit. Plenty of puffy clouds and some distant rumbles a short ways below the summit, but no rain to speak of and great views from the top. Finished in time for a quick dip in Echo Lake before headed home. Happy 4th everyone!
