Really frustrating today to see all the people out in spikes tilling up the trail. The trail is going to be in rough shape tomorrow, as all of us who had snowshoes were the first ones up the mountain. Clearly, the mentality of the day was to let the people who actually used snowshoes “break†the trail so that the spikers could follow.
Trail was (and is) fully broken. However, the snow is stupid soft, especially above Mount Surprise. I have no idea why the people who had snowshoes strapped to their packs didn’t use them...couldn’t have been a lot of fun trying to get traction in that snow.
If you get out there tomorrow, please wear snowshoes. Hopefully the track can be smoothed out before all the postholes/divots freeze. |
