Comments
Comments: Saw nobody else on the trail today. Had a nice road walk in. There is an established monorail, if you step off you break through the crust from the freezing rain the other day.
Hale Brook was not broken out. We were a little less than a mile to the summit when we turned back. Trail ran along the side of a gully, which the recent storm had smoothed the snow over and made a crust at least an inch thick, making it difficult to get traction even wearing snowshoes. The slope of the snow as a result was (for the most part) 45-60 degrees. Spent about 45 minutes trying to break it out and only getting a couple hundred yards, and the dogs were not having a good time so we turned back.
