Microspikes with the name Chery on the pouch were placed on a snow covered rock or stump on Avalon Trail between Avalon and Field. It’s ok the left side of the trail if you’re heading up/right side if you’re heading down. |

Trails were a sidewalk today! Wore snowshoes up to the junction with the Mount Tom Spur but then swapped them out for microspikes and wore those the rest of the day. There are definitely opportunities for postholing when moving to the sides of the trail to let people pass but otherwise the center of the trail is well packed for this entire hike. Butt sledding is WORLD CLASS amazing from Field to Avalon right now on Avalon Trail. I would not recommend doing this on Avalon Trail below Avalon though; there was exposed rock poking through in multiple places so if you like having a tailbone it might be best to stay on foot. |
