Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest. I needed an easier day today and this fit the bill. The 7 Dwarves approach saves a little over a mile. Only saw 1 hiker (hi Chris!) and two skiers all day. Bareboot to North Twin Trail and then from there we put on snowshoes as this route is a popular backcountry ski trail so we wanted to keep it good for all. It was nice to see a proper snowshoe track for once, devoid of the dreaded and selfish postholio bare booters. A seperate skinning track paralleled the trail for some time. A fine and firm base from North Twin Trail to the summit of Hale, aside from a few minor spots that lasted no longer than a few steps. On our way out we opted to utilize our snowshoes for their intended purposes - off roadin'. We cut multiple switchbacks on the way down. Waist deep powder was flying in every direction. What a sight to be seen. Many hoots, hollers and guffaws were had (as noted by our skier friends who claimed we were having too much fun!). On the way out, some lunatic snowmobiler was trying to ascend North Twin Trail, but got stopped at the bridge. He did a number on that section. A ridiculously fun day! I also found a piece of Chaga on the way out the size of a basketball. It must have weighed a hundred pounds by the time we got to the car!
