Attempted the wildcats from the AT today, all the hikers in front of me were bare booting with little success as the trail was not broken out at all. I had snowshoes and they gladly let me pass to make some tracks. It was a one step forward slide three back kind of day with large slabs of compacted snow atop loose powder. Everyone including me had to bail at the chimney as it was way too sketchy to attempt. there were several tracks from others bypassing through the woods but they were quickly obscured and met with chest deep impassable drifts.
