Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Mt. Shaw trailhead parking lot is small, for sure, but that doesn't mean common courtesy cannot be observed, like blocking the entrance/exit. I had to call the police on two vehicles that were parked so close together as to make exiting and entering precarious. Luckily, after mulling over getting a wrecker, the officer was able to supervise myself and another group of hikers as we just barely squeezed through, with the other group having to fold their mirrors in to leave. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF SPACING IN PARKING LOTS.

Comments
Comments: A bluebird day from start to finish! As I had been foiled in my last attempt at summiting Shaw, I tried again this week. It seems there's been more foot traffic up there between now and then, and a few hikers have broken out the trail I made into a nicely (yet delicately) packed path. Unfortunately, Shaw was not done making my life miserable just yet, and one of my relatively new TSL Symbioz snowshoes broke while going up. I left the bad shoe behind, after trying in vain to fix it, and climbed the rest of the steep part with one snowshoe (haha), leaving that one behind at the start of the road walk to the summit. Plenty of snowmobilers out on the trails today, I must've counted nearly 50 from the one's I saw and heard. It was nice talking with some of them at the summit. Another hiker I met while descending had broken out Big Ball and Black Snout to Shaw, though I'm sure that all of our trails will be covered in the coming snowfall. Picked up both my snowshoes as I descended, having to MacGyver the broken one with sticks, twigs, and shoelaces to get it to hold until I reached the parking lot. Please read my note on the parking conditions. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND MINDFUL OF TIGHT PARKING CONDITIONS.
