Comments
Comments: I was seeking something a little off the beaten paths and boy did I get it. I put snowshoes on at the car, figuring (correctly) the lower ski loop trails would be well packed but I had no idea what to expect beyond that. Well, what I found was an occasionally very faint trough or nothing at all. It looked like nobody had been here any time recently so I started breaking trail: maybe 6-8" lower and in the 10" neighborhood higher up. At the boulder fields it became obvious I was not going to summit this day but I continued on to the point where I finished my first of two liters of water and turned around without regret about 4 miles in. As it happened, shortly after I did my about face two others (with snowshoes) were coming up - their goal was to reach the ridge. All I can confirm is that to the point I turned around there will be a good snowshoe track - but snowshoes will be needed since there is still a lot of dry and unconsolidated snow.

Despite not getting to the top it was still a fantastic and quiet day outside - which is really all I wanted.
