Went up 19mi brook. well broken out. also well broken out across ridgeline to where north carter trail goes south to imp, and south imp was well broken out. it was obvious that only a small subset of hikers are doing the .2 out to N. Carter, as that was not well broken out. Pleasantly surprised to stumble into the Camp Dodge cutoff, saving a lot of road walk - that was flagged by a pink boundary tape where it diverged off south imp, and was well broken out.
Looked like 1 hiker bare booted up south imp across to zeta pass, causing a lot of posting. Moral of the story is anyone who is hiking any trail in the Whites should be using snowshoes as the monorail is fragile.
