A beautiful wintry hike today up to Starr King and over to Waumbek and the lookout beyond the wooded summit. The trail is a snowy sidewalk, so either snowshoes or light traction works well. The clouds lifted somewhat while we were at the lookout but views were limited today. Highly recommend going to the lookout on a nice day.
We met a few hikers (who knew today was 'Waumbek Wednesday :)' who were clearly enjoying the day as much as we were, including two gentlemen hiking their 4k list over 80! Very inspirational to see them trotting up the trail. A lovely day in the Whites. |
