Great day for a hike. Moderate number of people. Theme for today is people not knowing when to utilize snowshoes. Saw numerous people who had shoes but chose to wear spikes and they chewed up the soft snow instead of helping to pack and consolidate. Then, of course, there were those that didn’t carry snowshoes. I’m not sure which is worse, not bringing shoes and chewing up the trail and postholing or having shoes and not wearing them with the same results. Anyway, the snow is still too soft for spikes and shoes are still the correct equipment for the conditions. |
