Several blowdowns along the Mt. Shaw Trail, and the lack of blazes was annoying at times. |

Great dog trail, as long as they're tall and ready to play in the snow. |

Broke trail the whole way today. Made it to within 3/4 of a mile from the summit but turned around, I'd gotten a late start and didn't want to get caught out in the woods past dark without a headlamp. Saw some bobcat tracks near the summit, and noticed that the cat had butt-slid down a short decline based on the tracks! I didn't know they did that?! About halfway back down the mountain, I heard several coyotes howling in the woods across the stream, not all that far from me. Hearing that made me glad I didn't stick around past sunset. |
