Comments: (Exposing my inexperience here)

I had a few issues. If it wasn't obvious, don't go past the locked gate that has the scary "we will prosecute you" signs that deny hikers, hunters, etc... It's not the right trail. The unnamed trail (marked "<-- TRAIL") is to the left just as you pass over the bridge at the end of the road. The bridge is on the right side of Little River Rd and very obvious. I also took a right down Haystack Rd when I came out the other end of the unnamed trail, when I should have taken a left. Added two miles to my trip accidentally, so don't go right!

Finding North Twin Trail was straightforward once I was going the correct direction down Haystack. Following the trail and staying to the left of the river brings you to a junction with the Fire Warden's Trail, which is a sharp turn up and left. I think was relatively close to the blowdown that you have to crawl under. The trail was well-packed by snowshoes and skis - easy to follow. After that, I had no issues! Went straight up Hale and cruised back down. Didn't see a soul today, except for one guy walking down Haystack as I was walking out.
