Parked at Seven Dwarfs and left $10 in an envelope in Franz's mailbox. Included a description of our car and itinerary. It appears that some people are still taking the old shortcut to Haystack Road as there were tracks leading off in that direction. Note, do not take the immediate left after the bridge, but rather continue up the snowmobile trail a short distance until you see a sign on the left that reads "Trail". As always, take off traction before crossing the initial bridge.
We managed without traction until the third crossing. The bushwhack around the first two crossings is well defined. As of 1/31/21, we were able to cross the third crossing on snowbridges, but did so with caution. After the crossing, we put on snowshoes - which others before us had obviously done. North Twin was a steady, but relatively easy climb and North Twin Spur to South Twin was no different. -10F at the start, but bluebird skies and calm winds, made for an enjoyable break on South Twin. Happy Hiking! |
