Bare-booted Zealand Road and Lincoln Woods Trail. Wore snowshoes from the Zealand Trail trailhead to the col between Mt. Bond and Bondcliff, switched to microspikes for the summit of Bondcliff and down to treeline, then snowshoes back on until reaching the Lincoln Woods Trail.
Our group of 4 only crossed paths with 7 others the whole day, but everyone we saw was wearing snowshoes. The snowshoes track is good, but still soft. Bondcliff summit was largely windswept within minimal amounts of snow.
The only postholes we encountered where near the middle portion of the Zealand Trail, but it was clearly a moose, so . . . .
Bitter cold to start the day at negative 16 degrees Fahrenheit, but fortunately no wind, and things warmed up with plenty of sunshine. Amazing views today.
Nice to cross paths with some familiar faces. Congratulation to Keith on finishing his Winter 48. |
