Comments
Comments: Route:
Kinsman Ridge (southbound) > summit of South Kinsman > Kinsman Ridge (northbound) > Fishin’ Jimmy > Cascade Brook > Lonesome Lake > Pemi trail (northbound)

Kinsman Ridge (KR): blue blazed until it becomes the AT after the junction with Fishin’ Jimmy where blazes become standard white AT blazes. The section traversing the Cannon Balls requires snowshoes as it is not as compact as the other portions. Outside of the ‘Balls, the KR is a packed out super highway. Traversing the ‘Balls is exhausting. Prepare for additional time.

Fishin’ Jimmy: this is the AT and is blazed in white. Some ice portions in the upper parts. I covered these by using my snowshoes to bushwhack around. Ha! Suckahs!

Cascade Brook: also the AT but I was not paying much attention as I was watching other hikers on the iced Lonesome Lake...

Lonesome Lake: blazed in yellow. Packed out super highway.

Pemi trail: this is the section between Lonesome Lake and the Cannon Tramway parking area. Well blazed in dark blue blazes, well signed. I fully expected to be breaking trail for this 2 mile segment. I was happily met with a shallow trench and recent shoe prints. I was breaking trail through 2-3 inches of snow. Around Profile Lake I was swimming through deep drifts. I laid down an excellent snowshoe track on this trail. You’re welcome! :)

Of note, Kinsman Pond was not broken out past the shelter. I did not have the energy to tackle breaking this out solo for 2.5 miles.
