Comments
Comments: I parked in the LaFayette Place parking lot at the trail head, very well plowed. I went up Old Bridle Path, I saw a few other hikers starting at the same time, most went up Falling Waters, and I saw two heading up Old Bridle. I passed both on the way up, and did not see anyone else until almost the summit, he was on his way down. Trail was very well packed, closer to the top there were a couple of inches of fresh powder, but still very packed underneath. I wore my Hillsound Trail Crampons (I've been wearing these more often than my micros) the entire day, snowshoes went for a nice ride on my back. I did end up using my ice axe twice on the ascent. One steap section a couple of miles up, and then again on the final push just before the summit. I would not say it is absolutely necessary, but I personally am glad that I had it. After Lincoln I crossed paths with a few others. All in micros. Just before Little Haystack it started to get busy and Little Haystack was mobbed. I noticed several in Snowshoes. Falling Waters down was actually pretty well packed, getting chopped up a bit from the traffic (it was a super highway, like a busy summer weekend), but still was totally fine and happy with my choice of traction. It was a spectacular day on the ridge with sunshine and no wind!
