A fine day in the forest for sure! No wind and endless views. Ms. Mix-a-lot now has but two hikes left for her 48W and finished her fourth round today! I was just there for moral support and jokingly working on Grid #2. Trails are in great shape. With the cold this morning, we spiked to engine hill, and then had shoes on the rest of the day in the sky rocketing temperatures. Well it was -12 at the trailhead so positive 20 later in the day was wild. I will say, the way Engine Hill is currently broke out is the absolute worst I have ever seen it. It makes no sense, avoids most of the glades, and dives in so low it completely negates going the bushwhack. It cuts nothing off for mileage and added 300+ft of elevation gain on the way out. It instead of side hilling the 3200 contour, takes a sharp left hand turn and bee lines and joins the Isolation trail at about 3000. Hopefully with the new snow, someone breaks it out far better than it currently is - its terrible. I was a good lemming and added to it instead of breaking it out a day before a foot of snow falls. There was no evidence of Isolation Express being broken |
