| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking lot right next to the trailhead was only partially full at 1:00P. Lots of snowmobiles going by as we started/ended our hike, so make sure to look out for them (all were courteous). The end spots on both sides of the lots are filled with pretty soft, pudding-like snow - my partner helped push a Honda Civic that got stuck trying to leave. Whole lot coated with thick layer of packed snow, best to bring a 4WD vehicle (or bring friends willing to push!) |

Trail was packed and easy to navigate - micro spikes from the car to the Lake and back. Only saw about 15 people the whole time... it was very easy to step off trail and let people pass. The winds were brutal once we stepped out onto the Lake, so we ended up abandoning our attempt to hit the hut on this one. Lake is frozen and a footpath has formed from people cutting across to the hut - two spots where people had broken through the snow to the frozen ice underneath, but not sure if it was accidental or someone curious how deep the snow was. Absolutely beautiful, very protected the whole way up! Great hike to test those winter layering systems. |
