| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking lot is massive now, they have effectively doubled the parking. Plowed, sanded, and the MVP - the porta potty. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The only crossing along the route has a lovely birch balance beam. That was beyond my level of thrill today so I opted for rock hopping |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
WODC has done a fantastic job clearing some pretty gnarly blowdowns on Dicey's. There are a few more between the house and Tom Wiggins junction, aside from that, all trails are drag strips right now |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
None out today, but trails are fine for them, aside from the ledges |

Somebody call Wonalancet PD, we stole two peaks for January grid! The forecast today scared most away, as evident by only seeing four people on trail all day. The predicted wind forecast was completely wrong for today! The only wind was my heavy breathing trying to keep pace with Ms. Mix-a-lot. Still a pretty cold day to be out, but nowhere near as bad as anticipated. I had a vest and base layer on all day. Trails are like super highways right now. Snowshoes got a ride. There are a few drifty spots but only last less than a hundred feet. Did not feel I needed the shoes at all for this one, until Tuesday anyways. Brilliant cobalt blue skies, with commanding views into the Pemi and Presi's that only the Child of the Bear can give. Ran into another NETC contributer, Emily, just Emily, kind of like Prince ;) |
