 | Comments: |
Compacted snow surfaces from lot up to the junction with the Peaked Mtn Connector Trail. Thereafter I saw occasional outlines of an old snowshoe track with more recent pockmarked surfaces from a bare booter. There was a layer of loose snow at the surface that was up to about a half a foot or so at the higher elevations. I snowshoed the hike so there is a smooth track to Black Cap summit (until the next snowfall fills in the trench). The 0.2 miles on the Black Cap Spur is a snowmobile route with packed snow (neither saw or heard any snowmobiles today). Nice views from the summit with colorful clouds and sky. Mt Washington's summit was visible with clouds abutting the snowy Presidential Range.
I saw no other hikers except three on the Middle Mtn Trail near the end of my hike. |
