Trail conditions are very good, well packed all the way to the summit, with the exception of a few short patches that are prone to drifting, which are bit cheese grater-ish having not been packed by snow shoes.
I used microspikes for the whole hike and my snowshoes took a ride. Snowshoes would have been the better choice on the step sections, but the trail was solid and I was just too lazy to put them on. Trail conditions are such that either are fine. Note that if you get off the track or slide off the edge of the track, you will post-hole.
Out early this morning and had the mountain to myself. Nice sunrise view from the summit. |
